MOMENTUM O
The work "MomentumO" explores the themes of randomness and control as fundamental aspects of the creative process. A series of sculptures portrays individual moments from a computer-generated simulation, illustrating the tension between rigid and flexible structures through the interplay of order and chaos. This process emphasizes the constant need for change and reflects the engagement with the unpredictable. "MomentumO" also initiates a discussion about the connection between digital creation and physical manifestation, exploring the boundaries between the virtual and real world.
. Technical Creation – Simulation: Elements: A cuboid with side proportions of 1 × 0.4 × 0.4 sets the spatial boundaries for the simulation. It contains 29 rings of varying dimensions, all made from the same material. Conditions: Inside the cuboid, special conditions prevail – zero gravity and constant turbulent forces with randomly changing directions. All 29 rings are subjected to a constant, light internal pressure. Creation Process: The sculpture was completely conceived through comprehensive computer simulations. The rings are constantly moved and rearranged within the cuboid by both external and internal forces. The established basic conditions ensure continuous change, making each moment unique and unrepeatable. Although the results are generated under controlled conditions, their outcomes remain uncontrolled. The viewer assumes the role of both creator and evaluator, consciously choosing to relinquish control over the final form. Meaning: "MomentumO-I" marks the beginning of a trilogy of sculptures that delve deeply into the themes of randomness and control. In this work, the rigid, immutable cuboid and the dynamically deforming rings represent the contrasts between fixed and flexible structures, symbolizing the ongoing interplay between order and chaos. While the cuboid presents a monolithic presence that suggests permanence, the rings dynamically adjust their shapes in response to internal and external forces, reflecting the inherent conflict between the desire for stability and the inevitable necessity for change. The sculpture represents a deliberate substitution of control with sought-after randomness, creating a space where change is the only constant. This emphasizes the inevitability and beauty of the unforeseen in the creative process. Each moment in the endless variation of the simulation thus becomes an essential, unrepeatable work. The creation in a virtual space and the subsequent material manifestation of these digital designs in the physical world open a discussion about the boundaries between digital conception and physical reality. "MomentumO-I" serves as a visual metaphor for the concept that in an increasingly digitalized world, physical presence is both an extension and a reflection of virtual ideas.
